The folks who insist on arguing that quantum mechanics doesn't need imaginary numbers seem so silly to me. We know that structureless particles with finite angular momentum exist. Why make life harder by insisting that we describe their behavior using only real numbers?
Is this the 21st century version of calling the square root of negative one "imaginary" because of its unfamiliarity?
