The more bells & whistles of any kind you add to these weapons in the name of ergonomics or cost or lethality, you pay a price in reliability, always. The transition to electronic optics was recent for this reason. The tech not only had to deliver, but everyone had to trust it.

If you tried to send me, a rando, into battle with a whiz bang rifle that had gyros & computer aiming etc I would expect to die & instead beg you for an AK or an AR (of recent, quality make). It’s not a game & the tolerance for failure is zero.

There is a very simple answer to this, & it’s why the AK is still popular: for a personal weapon carried by a warfighter, reliability > all. It 100% absolutely positively has to do the expected thing the expected way every time. Infinite nines of uptime.

RT @balajis: Too many are interested in “tech” (by which they mean money) but they aren’t interested in tech (by which I mean math).

From an 8 figure revenue founder I chatted with today:

"Email is extremely saturated right now. Our huge focus now is SMS."

Not an exact quote but very interesting.

Great to see things heading this direction.

But be warned: it's blackwell-only -- i.e only the very latest, most expensive GPUs. So if you make stuff with this, most people won't be able to use it.
