I happened to get two different emails this morning from people looking for the same feature on a legacy product of mine that's been on the roadmap for literally years. I had some free time today, so on a lark I decided to try vibe coding it. The whole thing took about 2 hours from first prompt to production. This to me is the perfect use of vibe coding. A low stakes, old project where I don't care (much) about code quality. Also where alternative to a vibe-coded feature is "it will never exist'. The biggest time saver by far was in the research phase. Basically just having the AI figure out the codebase and describe where everything should probably go. Getting help loading dusty code back into working memory is one of my favorite ways to use AI. Apart from that part, I'm not sure the rest went any faster, but I was able to do a lot more "multitasking" (i.e. wasting time) during the process

by lasting 20 years i mean for me since i drive very little, anything above 300,000KM is insane and willl take me 15-20 years to hit that sort of milage with how little i drive (might change with kids)
