there's a feeling i get when i realize that something i'm doing has the potential to go wrong, depending only on my own skill and fate, a sort of stomach dropping scalp crawling feeling, which can be anywhere from terrifying to exciting depending on how i choose to interpret it

@maebichka 33. oct-nov '22, passed back thru Konya and Istanbul, took the sleeper train to Sofia, cooked root vegetable stews & enjoyed fairytale Bulgarian forests, met a new lifelong friend ("Inigo") at the hostel, convinced him to join me on the overnight bus to visit my friends in Zagreb

@maebichka 32. returned to Tunceli, did some hiking, saw the sacred headwaters of the Munzur at Ovacık, helped young guys move oak branches to the goat pen and then bought them lunch, my friend's mom passed :(

doesn't matter if they lose their job, doesn't matter if warehousing them wastes the taxes paid by 10 productive citizens. We've been trained to treat shareholder value as an unconditional good, but whole industries can work like a crackhead ripping copper out of air conditioners
