I think China then successfully reset the decel parts of Confucianism during the Cultural Revolution The decel parts being walking on eggshells from having too many social scripts and not being able to be direct ever (like you have in Korea, Japan and lesser so in Taiwan) Because the Chinese I met were super direct and open about their lives (the good and bad) I saw in the last few weeks meeting them all over China Very very very very different than the Japanese and Koreans (where I've both lived)
