FastGS: Training 3D Gaussian Splatting in 100 Seconds

Contributions:
1. New, simple, and general framework for 3DGS acceleration that can train a scene within 100 seconds while achieving comparable rendering quality.

2. Efficient densification and pruning strategy strictly controls the addition and removal of each Gaussian based on its contribution to multi-view reconstruction quality, greatly accelerating the training process.

3. State-of-the-Art Performance on extensive experiments across Mip-NeRF 360, Tanks & Temples, and Deep Blending datasets. Our method outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches in training efficiency while maintaining comparable rendering quality.

4. Strong generality across various tasks, such as dynamic scene reconstruction, surface reconstruction, sparse-view reconstruction, large-scale reconstruction, and SLAM. FastGS achieves an average 2–7× training speedup.

GitHub:https://t.co/90Kc9PfVr5

提供了开箱即用安装包,可在其官网上进行下载,不过目前仅支持 macOS 系统。

Roon has a good point. But he misses China's contribution to America's risk appetite (before China, that of Japan's).

USA can innovate because rest of the world subsidises it.

Foreign government keep their Forex reserves in USA - China at 3.3 trillion dollars, Japan 1.2T, India 0.7 trillion dollars. This is just governments. Same is the case with companies.

Total is humongous (easily 10T plus across bonds and deposits). This subsidises US interest rests, that fuels the risk appreciate.

Also, USA prints currency much more liberally, as they have ability to soften the impact of inflation by exporting it. Look how they handled the Covid crash. This is incredible privilege as a nation.

Post WW2 America is build by Americans, and rest of the world working together.

Improving Multi-View Reconstruction via Texture-Guided Gaussian-Mesh Joint Optimization

Abstract (excerpt):
This paper advocates a unified treatment of geometry and appearance optimization for seamless Gaussian-mesh joint optimization. More specifically, we propose a novel framework that simultaneously optimizes mesh geometry (vertex positions and faces) and vertex colors via Gaussian-guided mesh differentiable rendering. This leverages photometric consistency from input images and geometric regularization from normal and depth maps.
