Ok this is interesting. So I go to @IBKR to update my passport because my previous one expired. 5 minutes later, it's asking me to verify my identity, BUT with my OLD EXPIRED passport, not the new one. Hmmmm... After a decade building software, I have a feeling something really bad is about to happen 😂 I'm gonna hit some stupid edge case in the software that gets me locked out of my account, and I'll have to contact support via the phone etc... Anyway, I'm too scared to continue, closed the tab for now. I'll try again after a good night's sleep. Wish me luck.

The funniest part here is that 1.4M RMB is close to the ceiling of annual compensation for DeepSeek researchers (90K RMB, “14 months”). Probably exactly matching on cards alone. Wenfeng will have to shell out ≈300M to give each researcher 8 H200s. $42,7M. He'd want more I think.
Wenfeng is theoretically worth $11B but that's not cash and he doesn't want to raise. I wonder how much he can actually afford, especially given limited supply. to reach “major labs” level, he'd need… at least 108K cards. $2.7B. I hope! (typo b/m here)
