I think this is right. People who are cheesed about golf courses are legitimately irritated by the water waste. But people RTing AI datacenter water use lies into my feed are just mad about AI.
I still think there's a ton of overlap there in the Venn diagram of "is willing to complain a bit about golf course water use" and "is spreading howlers about AI datacenter water use." There's some horseshoe theory cultural thing at work here that I can't quite put my finger on.

This is excellent as a data point but not so much as a dunk, because my sense is that some upwards of 90% of the ppl on left & right who are mad about AI water use are also down on golf course water use (but to a far lesser degree).
