It's a curse. It's not even that good! It's just a giant pile of dense, D&D-esque lore and philosophical musings punctuated by some amazing set pieces, and as I read it I can smell the BO and stale Domino's pizza, and yet I am compelled to finish the whole series.
I am a guy who will absolutely bail on a book, even halfway through. Life's too short to read anything you can easily put down. I've bailed on both John Gwynne & John Abercrombie after the 50% mark in each's big book everyone talks about. Something about Malazan tho.
My biggest failing right now as an intellectual is that I have been stuck in "Malazan Book of the Fallen" for like 8 months now, and keep telling myself I'm going to bail after the current book I'm on but then I read the next one.
