the problem with continuing to use the nazis as the unitary historical bogeyman isn’t just that they’re irrelevant to our era, it’s that they were incredibly fake and gay and cause us to underestimate evil
nazism as a product of the post-ww1 “conservative revolution” in germany which sought to place feels (romantic nationalism) over reals (rational technocratic government). hence the theater-kid grade flamboyancy in execution which led inevitably to military disaster
