it is funny how the first wave or two of news about a given technology is always quite gimmicky, and the easy mistake to make is to not revisit it upon subsequent waves i remember meeting someone a few months ago who tried chatgpt on launch, thought it was not very impressive, and then simply decided AI wasn't very useful. and not until two years later, upon trying it again, did they realize, oh, wow. huh. this seems kind of similar for VR, where it has slowly gone from a silly gimmick to something that tbh leaves me breathless, just hardware is still a little bulky, very expensive, and few are building on it yet
