I'm not going to do too many X posts about this one for now, because it's too early for me to feel confident. But I worked up a draft paper on the Information Structure of Einselection here: https://t.co/IOdct93Rj5

The claim, in short, is that there is a correspondence between Zurek's predictability sieve and the minimization of Observational Entropy, suggesting that the pointer basis emerges at the informational saddle point between quantum back-action and environmental dissipation. When applied to the Kwiat-Zeilinger interaction-free measurement protocol, we can observe that the peak experimental efficiency coincides with the minimum of S_obs, lending empirical support to this information-theoretic characterization of the classical limit.

I've sent the paper to a few people who know more about this than do I for their comment, but no matter how I try to find an anticipation for this mapping, I come up empty. It *seems* like nobody has pointed this out in print before? When I go back to Zurek's *Environment-induced superselection rules* 1982, I *feel* like it's all there already, but he never made the connection to interaction-free measurements, which turn out to be an excellent way to observe the connection.

Similarly, I've looked at Bartolotta et al.'s *Bayesian Second Law of Thermodynamics* https://t.co/Yz4CmXsAYn as an independent analysis of entropy that starts with the same epistemic prior that entropy can be subjective, but they're taking the choice of measurement as a given, explaining how to update probabilities after a measurement. But nowhere do they suggest that the classical limit is excatly the regime in which their Bayesian update is most efficient, extracting the most knowledge for the least thermodynamic cost — which is the central claim in The Information Structure of Einselection.

I have a follow up paper I'm working on now. I'll just keep going here until somebody points out how it's wrong or useless. It feels interesting at least.

From Huawei Horror to Blackwell Bonanza… TheInformation never disappoints.
(I would be very happy if that were true. "Several thousand Blackwells" is quite a notch better than what we know of their arsenal, and can massively speed up research. I think it's BS though)
