My son’s piano teacher grew up in the Soviet Union and his father taught him piano. If he didn’t want to practice hours a day, his father sent him to a closet. There’s no one outside the family my son respects and listens to more than his piano teacher, because he doesn’t treat the work as frivolous. He’s serious and takes my son seriously. “You have the gift, but only you will decide whether you become great.” Kids need to hear this stuff when they’re young because it’s true.
