The first step for humanoid robotics will likely be the remote outsourcing of physical labour Achieving the same wage reduction that was done for cognitive labour, but for jobs that could previously only be done on-prem and require visa/TFW approvals As we've seen with the Neo announcement, remote humanoid devices with stable capabilities are likely just around the corner and more feasible than fully autonomous humanoid devices We'll see a range of in-person labour start to be replaced with lower cost remote labour with operators overseas as an intermediate step toward full replacement of local labour forces I suspect that Optimus may soon become the largest contender in an emerging remote humanoid devices space What this means for wages and employment remains to be seen. The trade-off that this new technology would enable for businesses in the West is to effectively hire labour for lower than minimum wage, but at lower efficiency until remote humanoid robotics improve in dexterity
