u can def make a good story about the dangers of modern tech where everyone's just in mildly overpriced studio apartments instead of Neon Favelas. Her (2013) was very good with this. Maybe it's just easier to visualise increased inequality w neon favelas, even if unrealistic
also, why characters always doing everything at night. maybe it'll be less scary in the day lmao.
