Today I received a dividend from my Verisign stock. Verisign controls .COM and .NET domains. As a monopoly, they keep raising prices, which painfully increases costs for those owning many domains. A few years ago, @andrewrosener suggested hedging those increases with Verisign $VRSN stock. It was a solid idea, so I bought some. The problem was that, despite being a mature cash cow, they paid no dividend. The only way to realize gains was to sell, which I didn’t want to do. TIL they’ve started paying a dividend. It’s small, just 0.3% yield, but better than only suffering the price hikes.
