Alignment with a religion brings peace, but adherence to its tenets is what brings a successful life. A lot of people stop at the peace part, without crossing over to the success part. For example, you might be muslim, praying 5 times a day, fasting and all, and that will give you immense peace. But a non-Muslim, who doesn't lie, doesn't cheat, is disciplined, has a good temperament and resilience, will have a successful, wealthy life despite never praying to any God. You aligned with the religion, and they adhered to the tenets. Different outcomes. This is why you will see very poor religious people who are at peace, and see wealthy, successful people who are not at peace. My father had both and taught me both.
