Claude Opus 4.5 has been released, with its biggest highlight being that the price is only one-third of the original Opus 4.1. It is priced at $5 (input) / $25 (output) per million tokens. In addition, it claims to have reduced the number of output tokens by 76%. The price and the reduction in tokens are actually quite important. Although the unit price still seems more expensive than Sonnet, if you consider that Opus 4.5 requires fewer tokens to complete the same task (because it is smarter, less verbose, and does it right the first time), the actual total cost may not be as high as you might think. Take advantage of these two weeks to experience it firsthand. Right now, Anthropic is ridiculously powerful in the first two weeks after its release, but after a while, it will quietly be "quantified" or "simplified" to save computing power.
