There’s very little mainstream awareness of the fertility crisis and I think that will change soon. Things are going to get bleak. Primary schools are already shrinking or closing in the UK. The government reported ~600k unfilled primary school places last year! In more than half of countries fertility has now fallen below replacement level! Before now I couldn’t find any satisfying explanations for why this is happening in so many countries, but this new paper finds a strong link to rising housing costs. The cost of housing is upstream of so many problems right now I think.
