Odunayo and her brother lived with me for the first one year since I adopted both of them, but after sometime I realized she needed motherly care that I couldn't give. My Mum took on that responsibility and she has lived with my parents in Ibadan ever since then.
Back in January, she was involved in a terrible Car accident on her way back from school and was in ICU for weeks. This moment broke me and my parents. It was a scary time for all of us,as an act of kindness could have easily become a dark story of regret if she had lost her life
Would i have changed anything? Absolutely not. Love is such a risk. It's a risk getting to know all these children like this. Immersing yourself in a person's life so much that their pain becomes your pain is such a risk, but what would the world be without it...
Odunayo and Sunday are doing really well. All the other stars from Ikorodu to Makoko and oshodi underbridge are shining as well and because someone took a chance on them, they can finally find their place in the world again.
This story is not complete yet. Sometime in the nearest future, it will be retold by the children themselves. That is when all of this will eventually count for something. I hope this inspires us to become more intimate with our humanity...
Our privilege blinds us in ways we'll never be able to truly understand, but we must know that great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us everyday. We're all in this together and we must all bear the risk of love for the ones who suffer the most♥️
Thank you for the kind words everyone😊. I shared her brother's story a while back, and we got incredible love and support for them. @ParisHilton supported us and helped create more awareness for our project.
Thank you once again @ParisHilton 🤗♥️
