I’ve had a lot of strange experiences living in Nigeria for the past 12 years, but this is a new one! Currently flying from Lagos to Kaduna with a plane full of soldiers… 😳
Never seen anything like it! We are all mixed together, civilians and men/women in uniform. I tried to ask one of them about why they are flying commercial but he stonewalled me. I was like… “don’t you usually fly in military planes?” And he said “not today.”
I told the soldier “I’ve never had this experience before in my life” and he said “well, now you have.” 😂😂😂
I will say, this is the most orderly queue I have ever experienced when boarding a flight in 🇳🇬. All of the soldiers queued up in a long single file column and us civilians were too scared to try and jump the line or conduct any nonsense. We all meekly filed in behind them.
I want to snap a picture but years of putting my electric devices away at check points has conditioned me to not even attempt it. (Even though the soldier sitting in the row in front of me is doing video selfie…)
I hesitated to even tweet about the experience but, well, if it was supposed to be a secret they would have bought out the whole plane and boarded through another area, right? I don’t think I’m blowing the lid off anything here. 😬
Update: we landed and we are all sitting in our seats waiting for the flight attendants to tell us we can stand up. Discipline is contagious!
Tried to take a couple of stealth photos coming off the flight - please excuse the weird angles. They are all gathering outside while the rest of us have come to the luggage area.
And, that’s a wrap! God bless the soldiers and I hope they are victorious in their mission.
