Guys, it seems like this post got way too much attention, so I feel under the obligation to remind you all that I'm just a random dude on the internet who gets upset and says shit. I don't think the implicit implication that Anthropic was degrading the model was fair. I apologize for that.

Also, I actually think the most likely explanation is that, as models get better, we also let our codebases and tasks increase in complexity accordingly, which overwhelms the context, making them dumb again. There is a self-balancing equilibrium, akin to Wirth's law, that will never let us be happy with any LLM, until long context and continual learning truly are solved.

In any case, I sent the logs to Anthropic, and I really wish I could re-run the same prompts under Vertex AI to check myself if there is a difference. Sadly, my request for quota was denied and Google's support couldn't help me, so, I can't offer any additional insight on this matter.
