> there are valid reasons why things take so long.
these valid reasons are called corruption. I despise Palmer boi but he exists because legacy contractors are frauds. Elon whooped their ass in rocketry, for all their Nazi legacy, and the same can (must) happen in drones.

Like the recent post on poverty levels, this is another post that misses some pretty basic things (math) in an effort to tell the "this generation is different" story. Reinforcing meme narratives with a weak view of data is unfortunate.

I picked 1970-1990 because those were some turbulent years with multiple crashes, stagflation, and high taxes. And also the years that late boomers built the wealth that everyone is complaining about.

You can see huge losses and huge gains. Buy and hold (reinvest dividends) of equities is a strategy for that reason. A broad SP500 would at least 2X bonds over this period. Bond interest (and equity dividends) is taxed every year while price increases are taxed only when sold. And you got very lucky if you started with bonds in 1970 since 1970-1990 were the highest bond yields in 100 years (averaging almost 10%!) but the taxes would have killed you overall.

If you just take the average for 20 years you are comparing bonds which are a wealth preservation investment not a growth model.

Forgot the biggest one: before DS-Math, only frontier could do RL, because PPO was too much of a pain in the ass and DPO was not performant enough. Ironically, GRPO is at once their most mundane and most impactful gift.
Also: before R1, only frontier did good outcome-based RL

If, like me, you set your app's pricing in 2020 and never changed it, inflation means you've quietly given everyone a ~25% discount

My cheapest $99/mo plan should really be $125/mo

(Assuming US CPI rate)
