I joined the Kalshi exchange board in 2021 because I witnessed Tarek and Luana’s dedication to both innovation and regulation. A regulated prediction market didn’t exist until they created it. And yet, that path proved the most difficult of any decision. Much like crypto experienced “regulation by enforcement” in the last administration, Kalshi faced “enforcement by regulation” every step of the way. But Tarek and Luana stood on principle, knew what was right, sued their own regulator, defied the odds, and grew an idea into a first-of-it’s-kind marketplace that became an example for all others. Regardless of any fundraise, product, metric, partnership, or success, I will always be proud to have associated with them because of who they are - kind, brilliant, standup people.
