I disagree with Linus on “Vibe coding is great for getting into programming”. I think vibe coding is a horrible way to get into programming. You can prompt an AI and show off to your friends, “Look, I built a pretty frontend with 2000 lines of code”. But you skip the fundamentals. You never learn how the code fits together, why it behaves the way it does, or how to reason about bugs and edge cases.
