PSA if you use Stripe - but possibly only for US-domiciled accounts:

Two days ago they enabled so-called stablecoins in checkout and you need to turn it off if you don't want that.

I find it incredibly annoying that they would pollute my checkout with this. I operate a B2B SaaS. My customers don't use stablecoins.

This should be opt-in. Not cool @stripe @patrickc

There’s very little mainstream awareness of the fertility crisis and I think that will change soon. Things are going to get bleak.

Primary schools are already shrinking or closing in the UK. The government reported ~600k unfilled primary school places last year!

In more than half of countries fertility has now fallen below replacement level!

Before now I couldn’t find any satisfying explanations for why this is happening in so many countries, but this new paper finds a strong link to rising housing costs.

The cost of housing is upstream of so many problems right now I think.

Has anyone else noticed GPT-5 Thinking has been lobotomised since a few days ago?

It thinks for a couple of seconds and gives me suspiciously non-thoughtful answers. Almost like they are routing my prompt to standard GPT-5.
