The definition of AGI as “automating all economically valuable tasks that a human can do” is smart when you are functionally a spokesperson for an AI company trying to woe investors, but intellectually it’s unsatisfying and shameful.
On the surface level, the economic value of human tasks depends more on the environment of the human than on the human’s skill acquisition ability. Automation changes the economic value of human contribution. The touch of the human hand will become both more and less valuable.
