I guess if Ding Xuexiang oversees the successful EUV breakthrough, that does resolve the «never governed» issue of him becoming Xi's legitimate successor.
Inheriting an empire. That's one hell of a motivation.

of course it's former Wuyue kingdom again I'm a bit unnerved by his purely nomenklatura credentials but if he delivers here, that resolves the issue

So short take why everything seems to be going south in European economies right now: too many companies are no longer operating in normal market conditions.

Historical market distortion through high tax/subsidies/complex regulations went way worse post-COVID and then with all the looming expense crisis (old age/retirement, defense, debt). Unfortunately this is a compounded effect, not easy to notice at first, but accumulate through hidden monopolies, lack of incentives for innovation/investments, and time loss to optimize for too many things that are not related to economic activities.

Not sure how to fix that, even if it’s fixable without some major econ/cultural shifts. Focus on protectionism looks increasingly misguided to me: actual sovereignty is good products/services and building the incentives for that (likely primarily capital, easier market access).

i gotta retweet this literal ad bc it’s wild how much more capable today’s methods/models are compared to the hand crafted computer vision papers from the last 20 years

big models+compute+data & unified architecture/modalities has been THE deep learning recipe, insane progress
