you are looking for two things when interviewing. competence, which can be discovered by repeatedly asking questions in greater and greater detail about previous work to determine what (if anything) someone actually did, and agency, which can be discovered by asking in increasing detail about how they figured out what to do.
good communication and effective teamwork are part of competence and agency, they will also come across in these conversations. do not ask candidates about 'most any random topic space' unless you are hiring a circus clown

My one critique here is that a focus only on "explicit and unambiguous" promises will be most helpful to entrepreneurs that are willing to create a fiction about their future efforts, and most harmful to entrepreneurs that are honest. 2017/2018 proved that isn't a good recipe.
