Junya Koizumi, father of PM Junichiro and grandfather of Shinjiro, the new Defence minister and heir to the Yokosuka fief, was the Director General of the Japan Defense Agency during the 1960s.
Japan still runs on a very feudal framework. No wonder they're a bit… slow.

"More than a quarter of the students needing remedial math had a 4.0 grade point average in math. The average was 3.7…A number of high schools are awarding A grades to AP Calculus students who do not have any calculus skills and who would get the lowest possible score on the AP Calculus exam."

Today I received a dividend from my Verisign stock.

Verisign controls .COM and .NET domains. As a monopoly, they keep raising prices, which painfully increases costs for those owning many domains.

A few years ago, @andrewrosener suggested hedging those increases with Verisign $VRSN stock.

It was a solid idea, so I bought some.

The problem was that, despite being a mature cash cow, they paid no dividend. The only way to realize gains was to sell, which I didn’t want to do.

TIL they’ve started paying a dividend.

It’s small, just 0.3% yield, but better than only suffering the price hikes.
