corollary: it's important not to confuse prototypes with production it's so much more tempting now because they can feel so real — why not just ship it?! but eng as a discipline exists for a reason (quality, security, etc etc). if you're not carrying a pager (i.e. accountable), you probably shouldn't be checking code into production
