Conference reviews are the archetypal example of the confusion between the form and the essence of things.

The *only* question is: "would the collective body of knowledge benefit from this being presented at the conference"

There were never term limits for General Secretary; “President of the PRC” is ceremonial, Xi could have just cynically installed a puppet instead, like Soviets did. Jiang's rise was accidental; Hu was weak and Jiang faction meddled in his term. It's all been wishful thinking.

We're in a race. It's not USA vs China but humans and AGIs vs ape power centralization. @deepseek_ai stan #1, 2023–Deep Time «C’est la guerre.» ®1

I actually do quite the opposite.

I'm so rich now that I actually just pay people to play with me.

Not a lesson, but I pay someone to literally just play tennis with me.

They're often a high level player, 5.0+ or lately I've been playing with a true 5.5.

It allows me to focus on specific parts of my game and level up faster and it's a killer workout.

I also don't have to deal with the scheduling nonsense, and can play exactly when I wanna play.

$100+ for 90 minutes.

One China hand analysis trope that has long irritated me is "collective leadership" that Xi broke. I suspect there never has been such a *formal institution* of leadership, just a power vacuum post-Deng, who remained a de facto Paramount Leader till 1997. Xi claimed the Mandate.

This is such an awesome way to support Django. You get a huge discount on PyCharm and all the revenue goes to the DSF—the org that keeps Django sustainable.

The size and complexity of these 3D scenes is growing so quickly. A year ago this time, best in class was a fancy skybox with some parallax
