It's becoming increasingly clear that intelligence — maybe consciousness itself — is structured as a loop that includes gathering information, probing the environment, receiving a response, replanning action, and executing another loop. When people talk about an "AI agent" this is a good mental model to have in mind for what is happening under the hood. (It's a good mental model to have of what a mental model is under the hood of a skull too, but that's another story, one that some are not ready for.)
