It's interesting how over centuries China was eroding the role of aristocracy while upholding Imperial autocracy that rules over civilian society. In the West, and in Japan, Aristocracy and Royalty were intertwined to the end of their relevance.
Not saying this is an optimal arrangement. Of course not every Emperor is good. Not even every good Emperor can be a decent crisis manager. The succession problem is a mess. But good Emperors can manage catastrophic coordination problems, and that's their selling point.

Not sure why people say meds make ADHD people less creative. I feel way more creative making deep progress on 3 strong ideas than jumping between 30 vague ideas.

The only guy «too big to fail» in China is Xi himself. Such is the entire function of the Emperor. He only fails when he loses the Mandate. They'll deflate this bubble and make it out on the other side with leaner, healthier economy.
