After reading 5-6 books on raising kids and combining what I've learned with my own experience as a dad, I can say the same patterns keep showing up. Kids' days are packed with nonstop chaos, discoveries, and emotions, which if not managed well, can easily shove them straight toward obsessing over tech or screens. When that happens, it's super easy for parents (or whoever) to point the finger and blame tech or screens for ruining the kid's life. But if parents actually show up and invest real time with their kids, yeah, the screens still get used. But suddenly, it's not an issue at all. When we zoom out, it's always things like companionship, communication, and openness between parents and kids that lead to these outcomes. At this point, I just feel like tech, screen time, and AI are just scapegoats because no parent wants to admit they're doing a terrible job. (wrote a longer post about this earlier this week, see below)
