Got 2 films developed and am very glad how this particular shot came out. I use a Praktica MTL 5 with a Helios f/2.0 lens for these old-school cool film shots. Venice is beautiful in colour or not.

Who the f are these people?

> A group photo of historical figures I should meet.

Ahh, that's better.

Being able to preserve and pass on wealth to future generations is extremely important. My great-grandparents travelled to the Far Eastern part of the Russian Empire for a chance to have their own piece of land to work. Several times, the government (the Bolsheviks and later the Soviets) wiped out everything the family had earned.

My father, an engineer, managed to earn a little as a highly specialised power engineer during the short-lived, relatively free post-Soviet era. In my childhood, we were poor (no home phone, no car, goats for milk, an outside toilet, etc.). I’m the first generation that has been able to rise even slightly above that level and provide my son with decent experiences and an above-average standard of living.

The gaps are astounding. It’s pure luck that some places have financial stability and human rights while others simply don’t. I think about it every day as I keep “digging peat” for myself and my family.
