Relevant to difference between memorizing and understanding in humans and AI: "In Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!, Feynman recounts his time teaching physics in Brazil in the early 1950s. He observed that students could memorize complex definitions but lacked any conceptual understanding of the physical phenomena.

To demonstrate this, he held up a strip of Polaroid film and pointed to sunlight reflecting off the ocean bay outside the window. He asked the class what they would see if they looked at the reflection through the film and rotated it. The students had no idea.

Feynman then asked, "Have you ever heard of Brewster's Angle?"

The students immediately recited the textbook definition in unison: "Brewster's Angle is the angle at which light reflected from a medium with an index of refraction is completely polarized."

They possessed the vocabulary but failed to realize the "medium" was the water and the "light" was the sun. Feynman concluded that no science was actually being taught, only the memorization of words." Summary from Gemini

"you can move here and save 90% of your income"

yes you can!

but there are of course always dealbreakers which is why most do not choose to move into the middle of nowhere

most of the reason for people not discovering hidden gems of opportunities is because they don't actually exist in 95% of cases, and have some completely deal breaker flaw that has been forgotten about until you looked again...
