My personal "frontier" criterion is that I'm reluctant to tell dumb things to a model because it won't be sycophantic and will make it clear how dumb I am. Only GPT-5 and Kimi (for somewhat different reasons) routinely give me this feeling.
Yes, I sometimes knowingly say dumb/sloppy things just to watch an LLM agree. Of course when I'm *not sure* those frontier models are the only sane choice.

Too many of you see a boy who’s good at math and bad at “circle time” and are proving my exact point. “Many things” doesn’t mean he’s a monster kid- it refers to a range of difference that’s beaten out of boys as “deficiency” “weirdness” or “hyperactivity”, which is what state assessments are looking for at four. Many a good parent with an active or different kid is sent to the doctor and returns with an ADHD diagnosis and drugs. Praising boys for the things they’re good at is good, and ignoring the things they’re slow to learn is an important part of parenting boys.
Finally, here’s the best parenting book that no one has heard of but everyone should read: the great Thomas Sowell talked about gender difference in early childhood before anyone, and how detrimental it can be to focus on the “lateness” of boys versus their unique gifts. Highly recommend to boy parents and only wish he had written more.
