In closing, if I had to offer any advice to young people, it would be this: Relationships rule the world. So put yourself out there. Join clubs, organizations, do side projects, attend events, and seriously consider moving to the city where there’s a high density of people who do what you want to do. Work hard at nurturing relationships over the years. Keep in touch with people. Share updates with your network about what you’re up to. Support others in their work & endeavors. Keep doing this long enough, and you will increase the surface area for luck to happen to you.

Surprising properties of low-precision floating point numbers are in the news again! These numerical formats are ubiquitous in large NNs but new to most programmers. So I worked with @klyap_ last week to put together this little visualizer: https://t.co/ntHlazyDmK.
You can use https://t.co/4PJvda0eDy to cross-check values and bit patterns for quantized floating point numbers from the @OpenComputePrj's Microscaling Formats (MX) spec -- both variants of both fp8 & fp6, the scaling-only e8m0 format, and the minuscule fp4.
