The related mystery is that all the providers are guilty of this. They all play these games with model IQ instead of doing dynamic, electricity-grid-style metering where you pay more during peak load. None them break from the pack here. So there's something big I'm missing.

Honestly, I don't understand this either. This actually frustrates me, because I'd rather see them raise prices during peak hours than quantize the models down & drive model IQ to the floor when I need it most. Just meter it better, right? Can anyone shed light on this?

Why is my startup having to compete for GPU cycles with vibe-coding solo hobbyists and kids doing homework and so on? Can we not use price discrimination to tier the market a bit more? What is the rationale for not doing this?
