I sometimes meet startups who are worried that XYZ company launched a similar feature or is building in their space. There are so few breakouts products…if you feel you can build one, do it! Regardless of what anyone else is doing.

I’ve been studying consumer startups for a decade, and don’t know if I’ve seen a single one killed by competition. 99/100 times, your bigger and much more serious threat is user apathy.
