That's truly an anachronism. My first introduction to how GPUs could be used for machine learning came circa 2014 when Yahoo Labs hosted a visiting researcher from Berkeley who was on about ridgelining GPUs for more efficient matrix operations. Took me another few years to catch on to what that meant, but it was still six *years* after General Mills. Good on them.
