reading https://t.co/hoOVxONing helped my thinking a little bit on this, namely: - affiliate distribution should largely lose out to AI-personalized ads - ChatGPT may start to introduce video outputs when most relevant, e.g. if one asks "how to change a tire", which will increase engagement. as in some cases video output *is* more useful, this is the most elegant way for them to start pushing multimodal content in the primary app - also learned Amazon has a lawsuit versus Perplexity, demanding they disallow their agents from making purchases there. interesting both when comparing Amazon's ad rev vs. Walmart's, but also Rufus, which apparently people actually use (I had always found it silly myself)

a city is only as healthy as its small businesses. they depend on the same fundamentals everyone benefits from: population density, low crime, and real economic dynamism. i don’t have strong views on mamdani’s campaign rhetoric. it’s politics — he won, cope. the practical question is what happens in office. if the focus ends up being on making it easier for small businesses to operate and grow, NYC’s underlying strengths will carry it. trump liking him was also a tell. NYC is oversold.
