I think Speciale's peak performance suggests a big qualitative shift. Their details on post-training methodology align with how I thought the frontier works now. This is the realm you can't touch with distillation.

Yes this is the claim that some of their previous gains were explained by distillation (V3 has OpenAI content, 0528 is Gemini-flavored), though I always said that this is mainly corner-cutting, they were trying to reverse engineer how it's done, not so much boost scores.
