Healthy MAUs: Historically, regular users of the healthcare system have been the really sick ones ("Sick DAUs" / "Sick MAUs"), and the general trope was that engaging with the healthcare system frequently was a BAD thing. Most healthy individuals were "Healthy YAUs" (yearly active users) at best, and traditional fee-for-service payment rails incentivized this status quo. We're now starting to recognize that higher engagement with the healthcare system amongst healthy / lower health risk individuals can be a good thing, and specifically that it can be correlated with lower costs and better healthcare outcomes. Emerging payment models are increasingly prevention- and maintenance- focused, and consumers are exhibiting more proactive, wellness-minded behaviors, resulting in the creation of more supply-side players to serve these "Healthy MAUs". In 2026, Healthy MAUs will take center stage as a new healthcare customer segment. We expect an increasing wave of both B2B and B2C companies - e.g. traditional insurers and providers repackaging their products using AI-native partners, AI-powered challenger clinics, and modern infrastructure players - to start serving this emergent user base.
